The Daily Five: "the sisters" offer a literacy model in this book in which I have used in the classroom. It is a teaching technique based on differentiation and flexible/readiness grouping. Students work at various centers during the literacy block on work specifically geared towards their level. The teacher has one on one conferences with students during this time to do running records or phonological testing and to update any of the students center material as needed.
Differentiation in Action by Judith Dodge offers educators practical ways to incorporate student differences into every lesson.
